Thank you Lyndale for making the Curiosities of Lyndale Project a Success
After almost three years and countless hours of organization, applying for funding, sending out permission requests, engaging over 250 people, photographing over 400 items, and spending numerous months developing the images into printable box wraps, I am very proud to say that the Curiosities of Lyndale project has now come to a very successful completion! With our combined efforts we were able to exceed our goal and wrap 25 utility boxes with unique images of objects that are meaningful to the people living within the Lyndale community.
You can see a collection of paintings by local artist Marita Bujold on display at the Lyndale Community Gallery (3537 Nicollet Ave) through the end of June. The paintings are being shown as part of LNA's partnership with Regla De Oro gallery. The gallery is open to the public during regular business hours or by appointment.
During the month of December you can check out paintings by Philip Hoffman at the Lyndale Community Art Gallery.
Philip's work draws from art history, nature, and 50 years of living on this planet. When he views art, he is drawn to composition and then the color and lighting, with content almost not being factor. That is why he is drawn to abstraction. He is influenced by the way that nature creates a scene, by bringing the elements together and letting them battle it out for supremacy.
Starting this July the Lyndale Community Center will be a lot more colorful and a lot more interesting. The Lyndale Neighborhood Association (LNA) and Regla De Oro gallery are forming a partnership to present art shows at the Lyndale Community Center.
The plan is to have Regla curate three shows annually at the Community Center. The shows will focus on artists who live and work close to the Lyndale neighborhood, but shall not be exclusive to them. The shows may include a mix of shows centered around specific artists or community themes.
The goals of this partnership are to:
