In theory, floral arrangements inspired by works of art sounds really interesting; in reality it’s not just interesting, it’s magnificent! Every Spring the Minneapolis Institute of Arts hosts its Art in Bloom event in which the museum drips with luscious flowers for four glorious days. Suits of armor made from leaves and “bleeding hearts”, ikebana arrangements mimicking the stance of a crane, a cardinal’s robe constructed of rose petals, and a tornado of flowers all were on view to delight.
On Oscar Sunday, the Lyndale Social Club showed up to bowl, drink some good beer, and hang out with some of the loveliest that Lyndale has to offer. The Bryant Lake Bowl was bumping, so we had to wait a bit, but the cool Summit brew and fun conversations made the time fly. Sammy, Lyndale’s littlest social clubber made his LSC premiere while his momma bowled strike after strike.
‘Twas a fortnight before Christmas and all through the space, decorations were going up and treats were put in place. Elephants were hung from the gift table with care, while hopes that the gift received would be a gift one could bear.
The guests started coming from across Lyn-land, while greeting neighbors with a shake of the hand. A parcel was passed as neighbors and friends sang, danced, and laughed and laughed. Names were drawn and gifts were picked, there were giggles, and wiggles, and maybe even a groan, but someone really wanted that faux fur phone!

Fish Festivity Functionaries:
That great month of June is upon us and the Fish Fest beckons. One of the highlights of the year, Fish Fest brings the community together in a flurry of fish tacos, good tunes, activities, and water balloons! We need help with all aspects of the event from set up to tear down, opportunities include: event and food set up, food/drink serving, activity stewards, water balloon fillers, booth sitters, money takers, and clean up stars.
