“Naturalization” is the process for obtaining U.S. Citizenship. The purpose of this article is to provide the big picture of the Naturalization process. Note that the description below is a generalized discussion of the process and requirements. For every rule, there are exceptions and clarifications. This article provides a starting-point for determining whether you may be eligible for filing a Naturalization application. The next step is discussing this with an attorney to determine if you are indeed able to file.
Why File for Naturalization?
The benefits of U.S. Citizenship are many, including:
1) You cannot be deported if you are U.S. Citizen, unless you obtained citizenship by fraud.
The Lyndale Neighborhood Association legal clinic offers free legal advice once per month to Lyndale residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Attorneys from the law firm of Cooper & Reid, LLC staff the clinic and will meet with walk-in participants for 15-20 minutes to answer legal questions. You may also email legal questions to the attorneys who will attempt to answer them on the LNA website or in the LNA community news.
Cooper & Reid, LLC, a Minnesota law firm, and the Lyndale Neighborhood Association (LNA) located in South Minneapolis have teamed up to provide a new service to help the community – a free Legal Clinic. The attorneys at Cooper & Reid, LLC will offer free legal advice clinics to individuals and businesses in the Lyndale community. People who want to use the service will receive a 15-20 minute legal consultation with a licensed Minnesota attorney. There are no income guidelines and participants can ask any legal questions desired.

That great month of June is upon us and the Fish Fest beckons. One of the highlights of the year, Fish Fest brings the community together in a flurry of fish tacos, good tunes, activities, and water balloons! We need help with all aspects of the event from set up to tear down, opportunities include: event and food set up, food/drink serving, activity stewards, water balloon fillers, booth sitters, money takers, and clean up stars.
