Nicollet Updated for June 15th

Bev Warmka

31st St at Nicollet Ave should be open with one lane each direction this afternoon.

From Lake St to 32nd St, the first 3 layers of asphalt have been placed along with curb, gutter, and driveways. The final layer will be placed after the sidewalk has been installed. Thomas and Sons is now working on raising the manholes. Sidewalk work should begin next week. Additional information will be shared when it’s available.

The locations for the future street lights and the boulevard trees have been marked on the curb or sidewalk.

Local access to Office Max and Shops and Wells Fargo will continue to be on Nicollet from Lake St.

While Thomas and Sons is working on wrapping up the Phase 1 work, a reminder that Phase 2 (32nd St to 35th St- starting with only the intersection of 35th St and Nicollet) is anticipated to start in early July.

 OTHER CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION

CenterPoint Energy service crew will continue making connections to the new gas main.  They anticipate being completed with a majority with the service connections north of 37th by the end of today.  They will be making appointments with each property/business owner to set up a time for this work to take place so the crew typically has to jump around a bit to meet these demands.

CenterPoint Energy still has some work left on the gas main along Lake St from approximately Blaisdell Ave to just east of Nicollet. Additional information will be shared on this as it’s available.

CenturyLinkshould be finishing up their manhole work near 34th St and will be moving on to the manhole near 35th St.

Minneapolis Traffic is installing conduit for signals and lighting behind the new curbs and will be pouring foundations for the new street lights.

Minneapolis Water is installing the temporary water line from 32nd St through 36th St. The cleaning and lining for Phases 2 and 3 of the roadway construction project will be done together. They will be connecting services back to the mainline between Lake St and 32nd St and removing the temporary lines.
