Lyndale Annual Meeting
LNA will hold our annual meeting on Monday, June 25th. This is a great chance to hear about what LNA has accomplished in the past year and what’s ahead for Lyndale next year. In keeping with Lyndale tradition the meeting will involve food and fun! From 5:30 to 7:00 pm we will have a community potluck BBQ, with LNA providing food for the grill.
The meeting portion of the evening will start at 7:00 pm with the presentation of this year’s Community Service Award, which will be awarded to Holly Reckel for her years of service to the neighborhood and to Minnesota Teen Challenge whose program participants regularly volunteer with organizations across the neighborhood. This will be followed with a short, informative presentation. The meeting will also include electing board members. This year LNA will be electing five board members to two year terms and up to five alternates to one year terms. You can learn more about serving on the board here.
The final item of the evening will be picking the winner of the Annual Dessert contest. The winner of the best dessert gets bragging rights for the whole year, so it’s a great time to show off your baking skills.
We are also going to use this meeting as an opportunity for people to participate in the Curiosities of Lyndale Project. Lyndale is currently working with artist Carly Schmitt on a project to wrap 20 to 25 utility boxes with artistic images that help to tell the neighborhood’s story and reduce the amount of graffiti in the neighborhood.
As a part of this project, we’re asking people to think about the following question “What are some unique objects in your home that best represent you, your story, and your community?” and to bring some objects from their homes for Carly to document at the annual meeting. The project will also include a series of neighborhood gatherings in July.
