After discussion at the November Board and General Membership Meetings, the LNA Board choose to send the following letter to the Mayor and City Council on the proposed 2012 City of Minneapolis Budget. You can download a copy of the letter here. To learn more about the City's proposed budget go to
As part of its 2011 budget discussions the Minneapolis City Council chose to take action on a proposal that will have a serious and far reaching effect on neighborhoods across Minneapolis. The proposal related to changes in neighborhood programming was introduced at the last minute by the Mayor, Council Member Hodges, and Council President Johnson without any public input. Most people found out about the proposal, prior to its introduction in Committee, from a StarTribune article released Tuesday morning reporting that a budget deal had been reached.

It’s that time again! La Posada is just around the corner and there are many opportunities to help out with this great event. Tamales, dancers, community, and Santa all make this one of the most special events of the season. We’ll need help with set up, food service, activity helpers, clean up, children wrangling, and just general help with the merriment.
