After discussion at the November Board and General Membership Meetings, the LNA Board choose to send the following letter to the Mayor and City Council on the proposed 2012 City of Minneapolis Budget.  You can download a copy of the letter here.  To learn more about the City's proposed budget go to

As part of its 2011 budget discussions the Minneapolis City Council chose to take action on a proposal that will have a serious and far reaching effect on neighborhoods across Minneapolis. The proposal related to changes in neighborhood programming was introduced at the last minute by the Mayor, Council Member Hodges, and Council President Johnson without any public input. Most people found out about the proposal, prior to its introduction in Committee, from a StarTribune article released Tuesday morning reporting that a budget deal had been reached.

Volunteer Special

Neighborhood Beautifiers:
On Saturday, May 4th from 10am to 1pm LNA's Environment Committee will host its annual Litter Outta Lyndale.  This event brings neighbors together to pick up the debris uncovered by the melting snow.  Come to the Lyndale Community Center (3537 Nicollet) anytime between 10-1 and enjoy some breakfasty treats, get a bag, gloves, and a route and pitch in for this great neighborhood clean up.  Contact jennifer@lyndale.org or 612-824-9402 ext. 12 for more information.
